JAMES app

Your web portal login also works in the JAMES app for Android and iOS. Use the links below to download it, or search for “JAMES APP” in the app stores.

Home

The home page shows the following tiles:

  • The service user’s details, including the option to call the service user
  • Open alarms
  • Open notifications
  • The last known position
  • Contacts & alerting chain
  • The device status of the emergency watch
  • Alert history
  • The option to send a message to the service user
  • The calendar
  • Vital values

Edit service user data

At the top left of the page, you can see the name of the service user. Directly below it, the most important user details are listed again.

Next to the phone number field you will find the “Call” button.

Clicking it starts a call to the stored phone number of the service user.

To change the service user data, click “Edit service user data” at the top right.

Master data

In the first step you can adjust the master data of the service user. This includes, among other things, name, language, phone number and more. This data forms the basis for user communication and system display.

Notification settings

Next are the notification settings, where you define which system messages should be active. Here you can enable or disable alarms for the following events, among others:

  • Movement zone alarms
  • Vital value warnings
  • Vital alarms
  • Technical warnings

Address

In the next step, enter the address of the service user.

Note: Entering an address is mandatory for the add-on package “Emergency call centre” and for the JAMES Locator.

Alerting chain

The alerting chain is the list of emergency contacts. When an alarm is triggered, the alerting chain is contacted one after the other until someone accepts the alarm.

Using the grey buttons, you can add existing users, create new users or invite your contacts. Always enter the required data in the respective fields.

Below, you will find a list of your contacts. On the left you will see 2 icons. By placing a checkmark in the left box, you can add the contact to the alerting chain, and in the right box you can make them an administrator. Using the arrows, you can edit the order of your alerting chain.

Movement zones

The movement zone editing function is only available with the “Dementia” add-on tariff. After purchasing this tariff, you can make various settings:

  • Alarm trigger: First, choose between faster or more accurate alarm triggering.
  • Watch position: The last position of the watch is shown on the map (icon: person). Use “Center on watch” to jump back to the current position.
  • Search address: Use the search field directly on the map to search for the service user’s address and position the map section accordingly.
  • Create new zone: Click “New movement zone” to define a zone. It is displayed as a green circle on the map.
  • Zone name & radius: Name the zone and define the radius—either by moving/adjusting the circle on the map, via the arrow icon next to the display, or using the slider.
  • Enable/disable zone: Use the “Active” checkbox to enable the zone or pause it.
  • Limit validity: Optionally, the validity can be limited in time. Enter the desired time periods and select a repetition if needed.

Confirm your settings with the green “Save” button.

Alarm information

Next, you will find the alarm information. This is especially important if the “Emergency call centre” add-on tariff is active.

User information

Here you can store general notes about the living situation that may be helpful in an emergency, e.g. uses walking aids, lives alone.

Then select the type of residence (house or apartment).

Medical information

In the next section you enter medically relevant details, such as:

  • Known allergies
  • A current medication list
  • Important health notes

Emergency service information

Store information about special access to the home, pets, key safes, etc. This information helps ensure that help can be provided quickly and efficiently.

Vital settings

Here you can configure settings for pulse and daily steps.

For pulse, you can define a lower limit and an upper limit. If the pulse falls below or exceeds this threshold, a warning can be issued (critical).

For daily steps, you have several options:

  • You can set up a warning if no steps have been recorded by a certain time of day. Only steps that have already been transmitted to the system by that time are considered. Steps that were measured on the watch shortly before but have not yet been transmitted may not be captured.
  • You can also enable a notification that is triggered with the first steps of the day. This includes all steps from midnight onwards. The notification is sent up to one hour after the first registered steps.

Indoor positioning

Here, the JAMES Locator can be registered to improve indoor positioning. Proceed as follows:

  1. Switch on the watch
  2. Plug the locator into a power outlet (for optimal coverage, place it in a central location)
  3. In the web portal, click “Search beacons”
  4. Add the found locator and assign a name

For the locator to work, the address must be entered.

Position

This tile shows the last known position of the watch wearer. Use the round arrows at the top right to refresh the position.

Contacts & alerting chain

As described under “Edit service user data”, this tile shows your contacts and the chain that is contacted in the configured order in the event of an alarm. Click “Edit” to manage it.

Using the grey buttons, you can add existing users, create new users or invite your contacts. Always enter the required data in the respective fields.

Below you will find a list of your contacts. On the left you will see 2 icons. By placing a checkmark (click) in the left box, you can add the contact to the alerting chain, and in the right box you can make them an administrator. Using the arrows, you can edit the order of your alerting chain.

Alarms

The “Alarms” tile shows all current, still open alarms reported by the emergency watch (emergency calls, low battery, etc.). This overview shows the alarm type, the time it was triggered, and the notified helper.

Click “Details” for the respective alarm to open the detailed view, where further information and functions are available.

  • Call the service user
  • Alarm details
    • Time
    • Type
    • Device (watch)
    • Last position and position request

Devices

The “Devices” tile shows an overview of:

  • the active watches
  • the call number
  • the battery level and
  • the last contact with the service user via the watch

    • Frequency of measurements
    • Start and end time
    • Desired vital values (pulse & blood pressure, body temperature, blood oxygen)
  • Fall detection (sensitivity)
    • Low
    • Medium
    • High

Important: After adjusting the settings, please click the green “Save” button at the bottom left to apply your changes.

Alert history

The “Alert history” tile shows an overview of all past alarms.

For each entry, the alarm type and the time it was triggered are displayed.

Click “Details” to open the detailed view of the selected alarm as described under Alarms.

Send messages

The next tile, “Send messages”, shows the latest messages between the watch wearer and the portal and provides you with the option to contact them via chat. Clicking “Send messages” opens the message log.

To send a message to the watch wearer, click in the text field, write your message and confirm with “Send”. The watch wearer receives the message directly on their watch and can reply with a voice message.

Please note that the display on the watch is limited, so the maximum length of a text message is restricted to ensure the message is displayed correctly.

Incoming voice messages can be played by clicking the play button. The volume can be adjusted using the speaker icon.

To the right of the speaker icon are the three menu items with additional options: here you can download the voice message or adjust the playback speed.

To refresh the chat history and display new messages, click the refresh button (two arrows) at the top right.

Agenda

The “Agenda” tile shows all upcoming appointments and tasks for the next five days that were entered in the web portal or the JAMES app.

Calendar view & navigation

To manage your tasks, click “Calendar” at the top right of the tile.

In the calendar view, you have the following options:

  • With “Today” (far left), you jump directly to the current day.
  • The navigation arrows to the right allow you to switch between days, weeks or months (depending on the view).
  • On the far right you can switch between different views: day, week, month or list view.

Create a new task/appointment

To create a new task, either click “New task (+)” or double-click the desired time slot in the calendar.

In the input form you can:

  • Select the task type (e.g. appointment, food, drink, medication, reminder, doctor’s visit, …)
  • Enter a title and a description
  • Set a start and end time or mark the task as all-day
  • Set a reminder (e.g. notification before the appointment or at the time of the appointment)
  • Define a repeat (e.g. daily for medication)
  • Optionally upload images (e.g. for illustration)

Finally, click “Save” to confirm and create the task.

The watch wearer receives a notification at the time of the appointment/task and—if activated—an additional reminder beforehand.

Vital values

The “Vital values” tile shows the latest transmitted health data from the emergency watch.

At the top of the tile there is a selection bar to switch between different values (steps, pulse, blood pressure, etc.). After selecting a value, the most recently transmitted measurements are displayed in chart form.

Using the “Options” button at the top right of the tile, you can click “Vital values” to open a comprehensive overview of all available vital data. In this detailed view, you can export the values to a clear Excel table. To do this, open the detail section below the charts and click “Export to Excel”.

Start a measurement from the portal

Using the “Options” button at the top right of the tile, or directly from the vital values detail view, you can start a new measurement for pulse, body temperature and blood oxygen on the watch directly from the web portal. For the value you want, click “Measure now”. The watch then performs the measurement and the new values are automatically displayed in the portal. This may take a few minutes.
